On a weekly basis, during the weekends, for the past 30 years, dedicated volunteers have been visiting Changi Prison to provide spiritual counselling, bhajans and prayers to male and female inmates.
This program kicked off with a passionate and committed sole volunteer in the 1990s, and who has since retired in his 80s. Today, the pool of volunteers has grown from 5 in the heydays to about 15 to include likeminded volunteers, both young and old, from all walks of life, to continue the much needed journey to help to rehabilitate the inmates.
Volunteers in this program are required to be registered with the Singapore Prisons and undergo a mandatory training program before engaging the inmates.
